7/21/17 vs. ~DeMoNiAc0612~ (101,415 to 136,074) LOSS
This was a fitting matchup for the last War before update 15.0 changed the map forever. This Alliance rolled up with an even Rating, but they were slow starters, beyond one mild threat in the War Room. We jumped out to an Exploration lead and reached their Bosses at a good pace. With eight hours left, we had a 23% Exploration lead, and Aanniill put on the pressure by taking out their Battlegroup Three Boss. Still, they had done some damage and could make up the difference with a strong joint attack, and we were waiting for them to exhale. With six hours later, they waked and baked our Battlegroup One and Two Bosses, taking the lead for the moment. After some huffing and puffing, TheTaintedMeat took down their Battlegroup Two Boss, getting our head above the clouds in the match. Not wanting to be left out, BaumanZ finished off the Battlegroup One Boss, leaving them with no Bosses and...no hope? They flamed out and faded away, like their namesake.
8/25/17 vs. Beqa (153,663 to 157,381) LOSS
We had another even-Rating match, so the match-up system had been working properly for us. We just had to get our offense working. We started out with a nice Exploration lead and kept it throughout the contest, but some movement miscues left us vulnerable. They took down their first Boss with about five hours left to go, plenty of time for us to answer. A back-and-forth began as we took down two Bosses each. With two hours in the War left, we had an even Boss count and an Exploration advantage. They erased that with a third Boss KO. As the minutes wound down, we finally countered that, and all six bosses were down again. The final tally showed they had done their work with far less deaths, so they edged us out there, taking the win even with our Exploration advantage.
8/23/17 vs. teg cosmo (130,801 to 163,800) LOSS
Next was this Alliance, another even match in War Rating and regular Rating. We had one advantage, as one of their maps lacked two mini-bosses for some reason. Exploration stayed even throughout, and with eight hours left in the War, they took our first Boss, but we threatened most of theirs at this point, so it was early. With about five hours left, we delivered a one-two punch and took out their Battlegroup Three and Two Bosses. They had a small Exploration lead, but we had two Bosses to their one, and we were approaching an assault point on their first Boss as well. With two hours left, they had explored most of all three Maps with ease, and they put an exclamation point on it by slapping down our other two Bosses and clearing most of all the maps, making it a clean sweep.
8/20/17 vs. Kunoichi (83,263 to 140,901) LOSS
This War matched us with an opponent named for the female ninja warriors of Japan. It also picked an equal opponent, as our Rankings were within 1,000 of each other. The advance to Tier 8 presented a new challenge. We couldn't see the Class of our opponents before picking our attackers. This slowed our advance and gave them more Defense KOs than usual, but they were facing the same disadvantage. Perhaps they were used to it, as they rumbled to the end of the Map, knocking out two of our Bosses before we KOed any of theirs. Then they soon after got the third. We had some players out of the fight, and it looked unlikely we would match them. We did manage to exceed them in Exploration, but their precision strikes left us bleeding in the dirt.
8/18/17 vs. Universe Spanish Heroes (148,407 to 139.972) WIN
Our roster was still a little thin. Not the best time to be facing a five-million Rating Alliance, but tough luck. We had left them some empty nodes, and they took advantage, jumping to a quick and severe Exploration lead. They also struck in the Boss KO category first, getting our Battlegroup One Boss down with eight hours left in the War. We also did some damage, getting to the end of the maps and taking down the Battlegroup One enemy Boss with seven hours left, but there was still a daunting Exploration lead. A few hours later, both Group Three Bosses felll, but the Exploration was still far away in their favor. It looked all but over. In the final few minutes, Demon Shanky would not be denied. He battered the Battlegroup Two enemy Boss, and it fell with only perhaps four minutes left in the War. They started an assault on our Boss, but the time ticked away. In the end, they had beat us in all categories except one, Boss KOs, but that was enough for our victory!
8/16/17 vs. Fullwar (130,083 to 82,660) WIN
We went up against Fullwar without a full roster, but we would still do what we could. They jumped out to an early Exploration lead, maybe picking up some of those tasty free nodes we had left them. In time, we caught up and surpassed them, taking that category. BaumanZ took the first Boss down with about seven hours to go, giving us a double bump. With 4 1/2 hours left, Aanniill took down Battlegroup Three's Boss as well, giving us a strong lead. Would they just go halfwar on us? They stayed quiet, not taking any KOs. They didn't even reach the 75% cut-off for Exploration awards. We appreciated the Win and moved on.
8/13/17 vs. Kizil Elma (152,569 to 80,548) WIN
At first, I thought this was a rematch against the KIZIL ELMA Alliance we had battled in June. As in the previous day's War, we leapt up to a huge Exploration lead, probably due to sleeping schedules if this Alliance was headquarted in Turkey. Thinking it was the same Alliance, they had beaten us before and take down all three Bosses, so I was expecting a strong recovery. At the halfway mark, they had caught up in Exploration, but the character of this Alliance was different. As we took down their Bosses, they didn't answer in Boss KOs. We ended up taking down all three, thanks in large part to all the Bosses taking Recoil damage. Tip: That's not good. They ended with zero, although they did decent work in other categories. This Alliance was a lower-case version of that other winning team, and we coasted to a victory. Not a rematch after all.
8/11/17 vs. Не верь! Не бойся! Не проси! (152,477 to 159,931) LOSS
The name of this Alliance translated to "Do Not Believe! Do Not Be Afraid! Do Not Ask!" Looks like they had some issues. They must have started their War while most of their Alliance was asleep. The first several hours, they had very low exploration, but when they awoke later, they caught up to us at around the 60% mark. With 10 hours left on the clock, they took their first boss. That was the first whisper in a roaring tumult of battle, as every Boss again fell to attackers on both sides. We had to scramble to accomplish that goal, so they racked up a large lead in Defense Kills as well as a small Exploration lead, leaving us in the loss column despite taking down all three Bosses.
8/9/17 vs. Непокорные (158,658 to 146,905) WIN
This Alliance was Ukranian for "Unbecoming." I'm not sure what they meant by that, but we were planning to become something, a real problem for them. We had a Rating advantage, but they had some formidable Bosses waiting to trip us up. As the War progressed, we saw two different strategies at work. They relied on some strong fighters to penetrate our Defense and take down Bosses. Their Leader, mr.dzenof, slipped through our middle section in Battlegroup Three, taking down linked nodes and our Boss by himself after only seven hours of War. Eight hours later, our Battlegroup One Boss also fell at the hand of two of their best fighters. Meanwhile, as we approached their Bosses, we had claimed a strong Exploration lead from our entire team branching out and getting nodes on the way, almost enough to make for one Boss' points on their side. Our Group Two Boss finally fell as well, but we had eight hours left to counterattack, and we were surrounding their Bosses with our Attackers. With four hours to go, we KOed their Battlegroup Two Boss, starting our push. Thirty minutes later, Battlegroup Three's Boss was down as well. After some suspense, Battlegroup One got their Boss down as well, making another six Bosses down! Our Exploration won the day over the highest point total we had ever overcome!
8/6/17 vs. Outsiders of Doom (148,647 to 152,980) LOSS
This OoD Alliance had a Rating somewhat above ours, but not outside our capabilities. They were strong Explorers, getting an early lead in that category and keeping it throughout. With seven hours left, we managed our first Boss KO, but that Exploration lead they had meant we were not safe by any means, and there was plenty of clock left. With about 3 1/2 hours left, they struck, taking down one of our Bosses. Shortly after, they took another. Within another 30 minutes, they took the last, but we weren't done yet. With 90 minutes to go, Battlegroup Three rose up and took down their Boss, and 15 minutes later, Battlegroup Two did the same. No Boss survived! We tried to make up a 7% Exploration lead, but they kept pushing as well, erasing any gains we made. This was a huge number of points for us in a loss, but they had simply racked up too many points to overcome.
8/4/17 vs. Marvel (104,054 to 120,585) LOSS
It's unlikely this Alliance was composed of Marvel employees, as it used Cyrillic in its description and seemed to have quite a few Russian members. They had a respectable Rating, and we started off evenly in the first few hours. We manage a moderate Exploration lead, and it stayed that way for most of the War. They employed the camping technique, waiting until the last couple of hours to attack our Bosses, and they managed to get one down. We scurried to answer, matching that KO. Then they took down another one, and we were unable to get our second before time expired.
8/2/17 vs. korkusuzlar (127,150 to 71,012) WIN
We had a rare War where we had a strong Rating advantage going in. Their name translates to "fearless" from Turkish. They were so fearless, they left their Boss spot open in Battlegroup Three, which did them no favors. That map was quickly conquered, though some nodes leading up to the Boss were full of Nightcrawlers, so it took some effort. We managed to reach the Magik Boss in Battlegroup One, and even though she had one node powering her, we enough Summoners to whittle her down. Our opponents made some progress in Exploration, but no Boss KOs, so we coasted to a victory.
7/30/17 vs. Thundercats (107,700 to 74,013) WIN
Dogs versus cats, not for the first time. Their Rating was over five million, but higher enough to give us pause. We leapt to battle, forging an Exploration lead early and keeping it. We managed to pass them by +20%, and near to midway through, we took out their Battlegroup Three Boss, giving us a strong lead. They did push back in Exploration, closing the gap somewhater, but our Bosses didn't fall, giving us a good cushion and the Win.
7/28/17 vs. Chilaquiles (129,361 to 134,905) LOSS
Like pizza, I have had chilaquiles for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, so this would be a delicious rivalry all...day...long. We had fairly even Rating, so it would be a fair, clean, fight. They came out ahead early, marinating a savory Exploration lead for themselves that lasted until the end of the War. With about three hours to go, Battlegroup Three took out their Boss, giving a score boost that would counteract their Exploration. With two hours left, Smacked65 flattened Battlegroup Two's Boss like a tortilla, giving us a sharp edge on points. They waited until the last hour of War and retaliated, taking down our Battlegroup Two and Three Bosses and taking the lead.
7/26/17 vs. rise and shine (135,560 to 108,432) WIN
We were hoping to have a sunny outlook when facing this Alliance. Our ratings were roughly the same, so it was a fair match. Exploration stayed even throughout, and Battlegroup Three took down the first of their Bosses with six hours left to go in the War. All our Bosses were under threat, so the lead was unlikely to hold. With four hours left, Battlegroup One finished off their Boss, giving us a strong lead in Exploration as well. Soon after, they woke from their slumber, finishing off our Battlegroup Two Boss, but they still had some points to make up. It wasn't to be. They didn't make any further push. I would like the irony that the War ended while "rise and shine" were mostly asleep, but, alas, we'll never know if that was the case.
7/23/17 vs. Legion of Legends (136,475 to 126,445) WIN
Luckily, this Alliance didn't actually have any MCOC Legends among them. They were a solid matchup for us, and we were back at Normal skill level, so we expected a lot of nodes to fall on both sides. Exploration kept pace from both teams, and with eight hours left, it was still very close. No Bosses had fallen, but our Battlegroups' One and Three Bosses were well surrounded, so the Legion was just waiting for their chance to strike. With seven hours left, we struck first when Aanniill's Thor crushed the Battlegroup Three Civil Warrior Boss. That was their cue. They struck in both of our threatened Battlegroups, taking down our two Bosses within a minute of each other. With less than four hours left, we answered by taking down the first of their Nightcrawler Bosses. Both their and our last Nightcrawler Boss had attackers on the doorstep, but we had a nice Exploration advantage. It was a game of fuzzy, blue chicken down the stretch. Who would strike? No more Bosses fell, but we had managed to win in four of the other five categories, ending our losing streak with a solid win.
7/21/17 vs. ~DeMoNiAc0612~ (101,415 to 136,074) LOSS
This Alliance had about a million rating advantage on us, and we went to work, but with a few Defenders missing. They started with an early exploration lead and kept it as time passed, but we made decent progress against their Defense. With 10 hours left, they struck their first Boss KO, giving us two disadvantages to overcome. There was a bit of a dogfight at the end, as we managed to KO one of their Bosses, but they finished another of ours us well and kept their exploration lead throughout, keeping above us in points through the whole contest.
7/19/21 vs. Cavalieri Marvel (106,235 to 138,122) LOSS
7/16/17 vs. the sorcerers supremes (79,443 to 159,350) LOSS
This Italian Alliance topped a seven million Rating, leaving us a bit outmatched. That these Alliances existed was no surprise, but what were they doing at our Tier. They rushed out to a huge Exploration lead in the first hour, but they calmed down towards the middle, and we caught up a bit. With eight hours left, they surged again, keeping a strong Exploration lead and not bothering with Bosses. It was only at the end that they bothered to topple one Boss. Our Battlegroup Three managed to rally and take out their Boss, prompting the Cavalieri Marvel team to take out a second one of our Bosses with only 17 minutes left, even though they had a good cushion of points. We managed to win Defender Kills by a large margin, but they took everything else and had placed the highest Defender Rating we had seen to date.
7/16/17 vs. the sorcerers supremes (79,443 to 159,350) LOSS
We rated about the same in Rating, but we were short two members, and their Defense had a murderers row of Defenders that took its toll. With six hours left, they started sniping our Bosses, and within two hours, we had none. They also kept a strong Exploration lead. These sorcerers had whipped up some supreme results, and we just had some excellent supreme pizzas baked up for the after party.
7/14/17 vs. Jugoslavija (EX-YU) (103,323 to 86,715)
We don't often fight whole countries, but it worked out in our favor.
7/12/17 vs. S.H.I.E.L.D. (101,145 to 66,743) WIN
They weren't all Quake defenders, but they might as well have been. A few members were on vacation, so the Officers opted to run only two Battlegroups this War, to great success.
7/9/17 vs. The Buzzards (69,674 to 132,349) LOSS
7/7/17 vs. Exodus-United (126,046 to 109,264) WIN
7/5/17 vs. MONSTER SQUAD (152,212 to 82,072)
We kicked them in the 'nards big time.
7/2/17 vs. ToSVio (150,061 to 113,508) WIN
6/30/17 vs. J.O.E. (102,617 to 132,349) LOSS
This was the last War fought with the Appreciation Boost. We hadn't had luck with it, going 1-2 while boosted. Stop giving our opponents help, Kabam! Also I went on a vacation at this time, so the write-ups for War are limited to results only.
6/28/17 vs. M@RV€L (163,638 to 84,976) WIN
6/26/17 vs. KIZIL ELMA (134,838 to 161,920) LOSS
6/23/17 vs. PandaPaws (133,673 to 137,162) LOSS
6/21/17 vs. British mutant Knights (74,706 to 154,932) LOSS
6/18/17 vs. The 30 legendery (78,982 to 165,132) LOSS
6/16/17 vs. Die Freitaler (123,342 vs. 105,391) WIN
We came upon this Alliance that sorely needed to buy a vowel for their name. We had been improving our attack strategies despite the string of losses, and this team was unlikely to face us after our improvement. We also had a good rating advantage, and we hit Exploration hard. Though it took some work, we were able to defeat all their Bosses, giving us a record score and our highest number of Attack Kills to date as well. One step back up the Tier leader.
6/26/17 vs. KIZIL ELMA (134,838 to 161,920) LOSS
There was no free lunch anymore, as we came up against another four-million Alliance, which translates to "red apple" from Turkish. Since we were in a recruiting situation, we had some members on lockdown as well, giving us another disadvantage. We had dropped back to the Normal level of play, meaning the node boosts were a bit more managable, so we were able to make good progress, especially with boosted health and attack due to Summoner Appreciation Week Four. But they took advantage as well, as they took an Exploration lead and their first Boss with 11 hours to go in the contest. With nine hours left, we answered with our own Boss KO. Spurred by that indignity, they took out a second Boss soon after. Six hours later, they took the last for a matching set. We had a ways to go, and with less than two hours left, we took our second Boss. Their Exploration lead was still daunting, but there was a sliver of hope. And...it was gone. We ended up getting smoked like a Red Apple cigarette as they edged us out in all categories.
6/23/17 vs. PandaPaws (133,673 to 137,162) LOSS
I don't know if this Alliance used "Kung Fu Panda" as its inspiration, but they certainly had combat down to a science. We started out doing well, making strides against their defense. As we reached the midway point, they had already downed one of our Bosses, but it seemed like we could retaliate, and we did, tying up that score. Exploration stayed close throughout, and it came down to the wire, with each Alliance getting one more Boss KO as the clock ticked out. They had done their work, though, as they edged us out in almost every category by a small margin, which added up to another loss for us despite our highest amount of points scored and still losing. Close match, close rating. Could this be a rivalry in the making?
6/21/17 vs. British mutant Knights (74,706 to 154,932) LOSS
As we neared four million Rating, we ran into these curious Knights that topped five million. After encouragement from both sides, we began. In the first 40% of Exploration, we stayed very even. Then after waking from a night's rest, they had continued where we had slowed, getting more than 25% more exploration during those hours. At the halfway mark, they began taking Bosses, and after four hours of effort, they had downed all three of ours. We had some work to do! And work was done, but not nearly enough. All of their Bosses remained standing, and we had to concede defeat here.
6/18/17 vs. The 30 legendery (78,982 to 165,132) LOSS
30 legendary what, though? The suspense was killing us. As we crept near a four million rating, most Alliances we were facing were over that, as was this team. Although their Defenders posed some difficulty, there were a few of the 30 that weren't quite as legendary, leaving some soft spots and three-star Champions. But those were were legendary took their toll, leaving many of our members KOed and progress slow. At 11 hours in, they began to strike down our Bosses, taking two out within an hour of each hour. The third fell a few hours later, leaving them in a firm command position. We mounted an assault, but even their Sub-bossses were leaving us bloodied. It was a futile effort. We found out these 30 legendaries had been up to Tier 4, a rarified group indeed. When the final numbers were counted, they had crushed almost all of the records of opponents we had faced. Amazing! For them, but still amazing!
6/16/17 vs. Die Freitaler (123,342 vs. 105,391) WIN
We were getting used to being the underdogs, as we were a million rating lower than this Alliance, named after a town in Saxony. Their Defense was solid, taking us effort to advance through, and they started to pile up the KOs on our attackers. We were also getting use to losing the Defense Kills battle, as our opponents were also advancing and keeping some healthy Champions alive. They struck first at our Bosses, getting a KO as well as a solid Exploration lead. Our Battlegroup Three surged to their Boss, equaling the KO count, but leaving an Exploration gap that would be hard to recover from. It would take another KO and no activity on their part to finish with a win. Luckily, that's what we got. A lucky battle against Battlegroup One's Swashbuckling Nightcrawler Boss gave us a second KO. At the final bell, we had lost in every category but Boss KOs, but that one victory was enough for the win.
6/14/17 vs. Zombies Ate My Pizza (109,652 to 81,673) WIN
6/11/13 vs. MARSOF (105,495 to 106,270) LOSS
6/9/17 vs. Agents of Tyranny (94,457 to 130,232) LOSS
6/7/17 vs. força master (156,881 to 146,574) WIN
6/4/17 vs. Immortal (92,301 to 130,415) LOSS
6/2/17 vs. Undisputed Kings (132,422 to 80,160) WIN
5/31/17 vs. Suicide Squad (106,820 to 133,042) LOSS
5/28/17 vs. =Black Lotus= (128,000 to 114,247) WIN
It was battle to see which pizza Alliance would reign Supreme and ascend to the upper crust. Ironically, a month previous to this War, several of our new members had been searching for this Alliance to join, but they had forgotten the whole name, and they instead found us. Now we had to show we were the better choice after all. ZAMP had a rating advantage of over a half million on us, but they were two members short of 30, so perhaps we could use that to our advantage. We kept an Exploration edge through the begining of the War, but their remaining Champions were still looking quite fresh, so we expected a push from them to come soon. Both Alliances inched forward, but it wasn't until two hours were left on the clock that we finally got a Boss KO in Battlegroup Two, as their Magik Boss fell to TheTaintedMeat (not a zombie). As time ticked away, they made a few attempts on our Bosses, but they didn't make much headway, giving us the win.
6/11/13 vs. MARSOF (105,495 to 106,270) LOSS
We faced a 4.4 million rating Alliance next. We had a couple of gaps in our Defense, but we started the Attack round keeping close to them despite their two advantages. Around 20 hours in, our Exploration was equal, with no Boss KOs until they struck first, taking down our Battlegroup Two Boss. We had four hours to answer. We both ground out some more Exploration, with only a difference of one percent. In Battlegroup One, multiple attempts were made on the Boss Nightcrawler, and he finally went down. When the numbers were counted, it was razor-thin margin, with Defensive Kills and Defenders placed being the deciding factors.
6/9/17 vs. Agents of Tyranny (94,457 to 130,232) LOSS
The only good thing about this War was the name of our opponent. Who doesn't want to strike down the Agents of Tyranny? The problem was they topped a six million rating and fought like true champions. They passed us in Exploration early and had over a 20% lead halfway in, giving them a virtual lead of one Boss without taking a Boss down. Then with 12 hours left, they did take down our first. More disheartening, the Boss hadn't scored a single KO before falling. Battlegroup One's defense had been destroyed with only nine total KOs for the whole Battlegroup. At least they didn't gloat. With four hours left, they swatted down another Boss. Our Defensive Kills total was going to be very low. They had earned every inch. Our Battlegroup Three poked them in the eye by taking their Boss before time expired, a great consolation prize, but it looks like Tyranny won the day this time. Yuck.
6/7/17 vs. força master (156,881 to 146,574) WIN
Matches were staying even, as we faced this Alliance in the mid-three-million range that was a good numerical match for us. We both started exploring in a business-like fashion, staying roughly even throughout the first half of the contest and gathering at the threshold of some Boss attacks. With six hours left, both Battlegroup Threes started their assault, with our Boss getting KOed there first. Theirs fell soon after, and we still had a strong Exploration lead. Things got crazy in the last two hours, as they took down one of our Bosses. With 30 minutes to go, Demon Shanky made a run at the Battlegroup One Boss and finished it off, getting us back on top. A few minutes later, they took our third Boss, leaving us little time to react, but Smacked65 rose to the challenge and finished off their last Boss. It was a record-setting Boss murder spree, with all six Bosses down, and we still managed to come out on top.
6/4/17 vs. Immortal (92,301 to 130,415) LOSS
They are Immortal. They have inside them blood of kings. They have no rival. No man can be their equal. But we'd try anyway. They surged to an early Exploration lead, but we managed to catch up a bit, keep it equal, then pass them by a hair in Exploration. Bosses kept their heads until about four hours left in the War, when Battlegroup Three lost its boss to a KO. Where did that sword come from? With three hours left, another head hit the floor, as we lost our Battlegroup Two Boss, and the tension was quickening. Our Attackers fell to a bevy of Nightcrawlers, both at the Boss spots and elsewhere, and we left the battlefield mortally wounded and with a loss.
6/2/17 vs. Undisputed Kings (132,422 to 80,160) WIN
This Alliance topped three million, but it surprisingly had some large holes in its Defense. Perhaps they meant to hit Two Battlegroups and got spread thin. Our Battlegroups Three and Two zoomed to their Bosses, getting KOs with 11 hours and 10 hours left. Battlegroup One faced a more traditional Defense, but also closed in on their Boss. We also had a large Exploration lead at the point, so it looked like a lock in the Win column. With two hours left, they managed their first Boss KO, but that was it, as we coasted to a large point total and the win. They did manage to beat us in Defender Kills only, but we had tied our record low of Defender Kills, meaning they weren't trying too much after the early going left them far behind.
5/31/17 vs. Suicide Squad (106,820 to 133,042) LOSS
We faced a new Alliance that was roughly equal to our own, so it would be a good match. They had a few holes in their Defense, as they didn't have full participation, and they didn't have a full slate of Nightcrawler Bosses. Things were looking up, and we went to work. So did they, showing a keen skill at filling out Exploration. We managed a quick Boss KO in Battlegroup One to make up that gap, putting us on top. Halfway through the War, Android Armageddon struck. Those on Android devices were unable to log in for several hours, putting a stop to both sides' progress. Service was restored, but our hopes were dashed, as they roared back and took out one of our Bosses while maintaining their Exploration lead. Despite having the advantage, as the last hour drained away, they decided to take one more Boss for safety, taking down our Battlegroup One's Boss. This group is now known to be quite vexing.
5/28/17 vs. =Black Lotus= (128,000 to 114,247) WIN
This Alliance awoke from a six-month slumber to challenge us again. Would they be able to beat us this time after suffering a loss? Their memory of us had been lost to the mists of time, but we remembered, and we wanted another taste of sweet victory. Blows were exchanged by both sides, and Exploration stayed close as we approached the 75% we both needed for 100% Participation rewards. With less than eight hours left, our first Boss fell in Battlegroup Two, but we were closing in on their Bosses, and they had been kind enough not to put any Nightcrawlers in the Boss position. We answered in Battlegroup One, taking down their Mordo Boss with less than six hours left, but the Exploration gap was turning to their advantage with one Boss KO each. Battlegroup Three put in a team effort and started taking down the final nodes and the Boss with scarce time left. =Black Lotus= revived several times in order to take down one more Boss, but they were unable to do so, leaving us with a Win derived from a real team effort!
5/26/17 vs. Butt Kickers United (78,607 to 144,265) LOSS
The BKU squad was over five million, quite the challenge. Their average Summoner was over 170,000 rating, and that only described five of us. From the beginning, their Defense took its toll, but we kept the Exploration close throughout the match, even as our Champions fell one by one. As usual, we had some intimidating Nightcrawler Bosses on both sides, but it looked like we wouldn't have much left in the tank to handle them. As the War closed out, they took down our Bosses one by one, leaving none standing. We were unable to return the favor, taking a severe beating in the process. Butt = Kicked.
5/24/17 vs. DCXXI (90,376 to 64,574) WIN
5/21/17 vs. LesSoldatsDuSoleil... (122,872 to 75,264) WIN
5/19/17 vs. Anti-darbe (128,493 to 59,691) WIN
5/17/17 vs. ELITE COLLECTORS (99,076 to 82,228) WIN
5/14/17 vs. Отряд Самоуϭийц (107,731 to 48,954) WIN
5/12/17 vs. Smart Writers (105,279 to 84,734) WIN
5/10/17 vs. Descendants of Thracians (96,335 to 141,377) LOSS
5/7/17 vs. Rise of the Pheonix (74,706 to 154,615) LOSS
5/5/17 vs. GOONIES! (104,923 to 101,379) WIN
5/3/17 vs. C.N.R (77.182 to 104,114) LOSS
4/30/17 vs. ȘaH_MaT (93,483 to 160,505) LOSS
4/28/17 vs. Mavericks (114,281 to 115,534) LOSS
4/26/17 vs. ФΕΗИKC Boccтавшᴎе Из Огня (148,591 to 93,134) WIN
4/23/17 vs. Romania Heroes (83,327 to 99,819) LOSS
4/21/17 vs. Golden wings (159,066 to 31,285) WIN
4/19/17 vs. The brotherhood of Avengers (154,773 to 117,929) WIN
4/16/17 vs. Nemo And Feral (128,489 to 129,717) LOSS
4/14/17 vs. Champions of the World (121,322 to 130,831) LOSS
Our pull was fairly even this War, as we faced a similar Alliance to our own. DCXXI equals 621 in Roman numerals, after their Leader, Reese621. We start roamin' through all three maps early and often, grabbing a strong Exploration lead early and keeping it. With eight hours left, we had over a 20% Exploration lead, enough to cushion us if they took a Boss, but no team had done so yet. All six Bosses had Summoners on their doorstep, so there was a chance for a lot of movement. Despite our assaults, all their Bosses held, but they didn't seem very motivated to continue themselves, leaving us with a clean win, the only time we had won with zero Boss Kills in a long time.
5/21/17 vs. LesSoldatsDuSoleil... (122,872 to 75,264) WIN
We came up against these so-called Soldiers of the Sun. We took a quick advantage on this French-speaking team. After a few hours, they started to match us. We kept pace with them on the Exploration front, keeping within a percentage of them for some time. With time to spare, Battlegroup One defeated their boss to secure a strong lead, despite that Exploration tie. As time ticked down, they didn't rise up to take any of our Bosses. To seal the lead for good, Battlegroup Two made a strong rally in the last half-hour to defeat their Boss as well, giving us a solid victory. The five-War winning match was a relief after a string of losses. Encore!
5/19/17 vs. Anti-darbe (128,493 to 59,691) WIN
We entered this War with all the advantages. We had over a million Rating point advantage, and this team had opened three Battlegroups without proper coverage. There were a lot of empty nodes, and their Defense had some large holes. We took advantage and got strong Exploration from all groups and two Boss KOs. They must have realized their poor position, as they didn't battle too hard, leaving us a large margin of victory. It's possible they have opened three groups by accident instead of two. They probably would have had more success.
5/17/17 vs. ELITE COLLECTORS (99,076 to 82,228) WIN
We had a new crop of members come from another Alliance, so we were ready to return to playing with three Battlegroups. Hopefully it would be an easy match for us to work out the kinks. But, no, we ended up with the biggest mismatch we had yet encountered! This Alliance towered over six million, being our mightiest opponent to date. We started out keeping a lead in Exploration, but we waited for their onslaught. With seven hours left, Battlegroup One finished thier offensive with a Boss KO, and we still had an Exploration lead. They finally decided to make their push, and their Exploration barely edged us out, but they didn't try for another Boss KO, giving us a win over the mightiest Alliance we had ever faced! I hope their collections keep them from falling into a pit of despair.
5/14/17 vs. Отряд Самоуϭийц (107,731 to 48,954) WIN
Energized by a win, we faced this new Alliance, which translates roughly to "Detachment of Samoans." Their slight Rating advantage was offset by our highter Average Summoner Rating, so we liked our chances with our group of veterans. We started with a good Exploration lead and kept it throughout. Battlegroup One reached their Magik Boss first and took her out with 14 hours left in the War, throwing down the early gauntlet. Battlegroup Two weren't far behind, and their Boss fell two hours later. We waited for their response with the Boss KO and Exploration lead being our for the moment. They continued to pound away at Exploration, passing us in that category, but they were unable to take down a Boss, giving us a strong win.
5/12/17 vs. Smart Writers (105,279 to 84,734) WIN
Reeling from our last loss, we regrouped into a trimmer fighting force and selected two Battlegroups only. We still came up against a large force of 29 Summoners who came close to a four million Rating. There was no respite in our struggle. With grim determination, we set our Defenders and started to fight the good fight, keeping it even until they managed an Exploration lead midway through as well as a Boss KO. We answered with our own KO, but the Exploration lead meant they still had the advantage, and Battlegroup Two faced another of those pesky Nightcrawlers. Their combined efforts won through, however, as we toppled that Boss as well. They were unable to answer that surge in time, so we managed the Win. Despite their solid numbers elsewhere, we had dominated the Defender Kills category and would have won the struggle even without that second Boss Win. This was the confidence booster we needed to set us back on the right path.
5/10/17 vs. Descendants of Thracians (96,335 to 141,377) LOSS
Lightning flashed and thunder bellowed as we came up against a Herculean obstacle. Despite our falling to a lower Tier, we were faced with this young Alliance of 4.5 million. Hoping to regain some of our confidence, we sallied forth, but at low strength, as many Defenders had not joined. Boom! They ascended to over 90% exploration and were still at nearly full strength. Crash! They downed our Battlegroup One Boss. Kaboom! They left three hideous Nightcrawler Bosses for us to topple. Downtrodden, we slogged through KOing the first one, taking down one of the fuzzy Elf tormentors, but we still fell short of the win by a large margin. Stomp! They took down another of Bosses with no need to do so, just for spite. Many of our members had not heeded the call and sadly would not be heard from again. A dark day indeed.
5/7/17 vs. Rise of the Pheonix (74,706 to 154,615) LOSS
Another round of being the underdog against this 4-million-Rating Alliance, but we had slight edge in participation and number of Summoners. As Exploration rose over 50%, they eked out a lead, and with 12 hours left, they toppled their first Boss. More disturbingly, the attackers in the other Battlegroups still had a lot of health left. Our Battlegroup Two Boss fell with only six hours left for us to make our move. They cavalierly took down our last Boss as well, and we were unable to counter with one. This Alliance were amazing fighters, giving us only 17 Defenders Kills in the entire War.
5/5/17 vs. GOONIES! (104,923 to 101,379) WIN
How much trouble could we have with a few scappy kids? Um, a bit. They didn't say die, as they sprang out to a small Exploration lead. We were down a few Summoners, and the empty nodes were hurting us. With a few hour left, the managed to take down our Battlegroup One Boss, leaving us in a hole. Near the end of the contest, Battlegroup Two rallied and took down their Boss, giving us a tie in that category. In the end, we secured the victory by winning three of the other categories to their two. We did this with a record low participation, but we had some new recruits to hopefully address that problem.
5/3/17 vs. C.N.R (77.182 to 104,114) LOSS
We were in a skid, but at least we were at a low Tier and at Normal difficulty, so we should have an easy time with this one. ... ... Then we will pulled this juggernaut Alliance that had been around a long time and topped a 5 million Rating. We were scratching our heads at why strong Alliances were still popping up at this Tier, but we dove in to see what we could do. It stayed even in the beginning, but eventually they began to pull away in Exploration. We threatened some of their Bosses, but their Defense had weakened us, and we were unable to secure a KO. They managed one KO themselves, sealing their victory. Maybe Tier 13 (started on a Friday) would be our lucky Tier?
4/30/17 vs. ȘaH_MaT (93,483 to 160,505) LOSS
Even at Rank 11, we were still meeting teams our equal, as in this case. Their Defenders were strong, holding up like Intermediate Champions even at Normal level. They got out to a strong Exploration lead and kept it. With nine hours left, they scored their first Boss KO, then a second within the next hour. With less than five hours left, Demon Shanky toppled the Battlegroup Three Ultron Boss for our first KO, bridging some of the gap. Their Exploration grew incredibly high, however, and they took down our third Boss as well, demolishing us with the second-highest Exploration and Attacker Kills totals that we had ever seen.
4/28/17 vs. Mavericks (114,281 to 115,534) LOSS
We were still in Rank 10, but now at Intermediate level. It was quite a log-jam to move up in Ranks now. We were paired up with an Alliance close to ours in rating, The Mavericks. It became an Exploration shoot-out, as we both increased our Exploration over time with no Boss KOs, but definite threats to see them with with four hours to go. We had a nice Exploration lead, but it could be overcome with one of those KOs. We had a great turnout, getting all 30 Summoners to particpate with the help of some new recruits. Battlegroup One was the first to rally and KO their Ultron boss with three hours lef in the War. The Mavericks answered with their own KO. By this time, our Exploration lead was very large, but in the last moments, they toppled a second Boss, getting a slim lead and the victory.
4/26/17 vs. ФΕΗИKC Boccтавшᴎе Из Огня (148,591 to 93,134) WIN
We found ourselves in Rank 10, but on Normal mode this time. The latest update had removed some of the War functions, so we were flying a bit blind, but so were they. We had roughly even Rating, so it would be a matter of who wanted it more. We had a decent turnout this time, so we were only one Defender less than them thistime. Both Alliances advanced very evenly, passing the 50% mark around the same time, but with no Boss KOs on either side. They still favored Ultron, as they had him as all three of their Bosses, with Nightcrawlers for Sub-boss protection. With about 6 1/2 hours left to go, we took first bloo--uh, metal, as BaumanZ felled the first Ultron in Battlegroup One. Within another two hours, they responded with their own KO, and Demon Shanky took down our second Ultron Boss. We also had a good Exploration lead at this point, so they would require a clean sweep on Bosses to beat us. Instead, we took down the last Ultron, sealing our victory.
4/23/17 vs. Romania Heroes (83,327 to 99,819) LOSS
We were back to an even challenge and Intermediate mode in this matchup. Both Alliances moved steadily forward, but with eight hours left, they had opened up a double-digit Exploration lead. With seven hours left, they finally KOed one of our Bosses, leaving us with some catching up to do. We managed to do that, eventually passing them in Exploration. We also took the edge in Defender and Attacker Kills, but we had left too many empty nodes for them, and we were unable to take any of their Bosses down, leading to a loss.
4/21/17 vs. Golden wings (159,066 to 31,285) WIN
For a while, the War matchups had been even, or we had been the underdog, but this time, we got a favorable pull against this Alliance, which only had a rating of 1.6 million. Our confidence played out, as we were able to match up well on attack and move through the map easily against overmatched defenders and large number of empty nodes. With 10 hours left, Demon Shanky took out their Battlegroup Three Boss, and two hours later SmashertotheMax finished off the Battlegroup Two leader. The last Boss fell soon after, and we ended up with a record-busting 95% Exploration. The Golden wings had given up early on, reaching record-low marks on every category, but I have to assume they just weren't trying.
4/19/17 vs. The brotherhood of Avengers (154,773 to 117,929) WIN
After two losses, our War Rating was depleted, and we received a matchup with a weaker Alliance this time. They had a slight participation advantage, and they came out early at a fast pace in their Exploration. After a couple of hours, we started to catch up with them as our members joined and we advanced. We had a nice lead when, with 10 hours left, they took down our Battlegroup One Boss. The lead wasn't enough not, but after a few hours, we rallied and took down two of their Bosses in Battlegroups Three and Two. Soon after, we took down the last for a clean sweep. They managed to put up another Boss KO of their own, but we took five out of the six categories of points for a solid win.
4/16/17 vs. Nemo And Feral (128,489 to 129,717) LOSS
This Alliance was about a 3/4 million Rating above us, and we had a few vacancies at the start of the War, especially in Battlegroup Two. They found their Feral side first and jumped to a Boss KO in Battlegroup Two in just four hours. Then they switched to Nemo mode and explored through all our other nodes. We kept pace there, keeping the Exploration close, but we needed our own KO to even things up. As Exploration pushed in the 70% range we passed them, and Aanniill took down the Battlegroup Three Boss with three hours to go in the War. With only an hour left, they struck again, hoping to close the door on us. Our Exploration stood dead even at 76% as the time ticked down. With 30 minutes left, BaumanZ took out the Battlegroup One Boss, keeping us at a near even mark. With even KOs, they squeaked a few more nodes on the map, edging us out in a tough loss.
4/14/17 vs. Champions of the World (121,322 to 130,831) LOSS
Nice name, but we'd never heard of them. Their Rating was almost a million higher than ours, and that caught our notice. We went into battle with a depleted second Battlegroup with some troubling vacancies, but we tried our best. Their Defense turned out to be the highest we had faced, but we were able to make some progress, toppling two of thier Bosses, while they took one. They took advantage of our empty spaces in Battlegroup Two, getting a strong Exploration lead, and our Juggernaut Boss was getting severely depleted. In the waning hours, they took their second Boss, removing our lead and netting the win.
4/12/17 vs. Omega Class Mutants (157,073 to 79,143) WIN
4/9/17 vs. The Scientist (105,879 to 156,081) LOSS
4/7/17 vs. Brutality (80,408 to 125,379) LOSS
4/5/17 vs. Imperial Membership (151,350 to 65,178) WIN
4/3/17 vs. **** ((( Ra ))) **** (111,301 to 75,561) WIN
3/31/17 vs. PanterCrew (122,293 to 128,863) LOSS
3/29/17 vs sfact (119,728 to 100,263) WIN
3/26/17 vs. Team411 Bordeaux (161,295 to 56,181) WIN
3/24/17 vs. Los Vengadores Unidos! (131,918 to 161,399) LOSS
3/22/17 vs. Roesitz Empire (72,025 to 154,151) LOSS
3/19/17 vs. Fighting Falcons 16 (107,329 to 162,563) LOSS
3/17/17 vs. Night Skywalker (139,200 to 98,120) WIN
3/15/17 vs. Tork-O (141,324 to 135,579) WIN
We had been taken down to the Normal level, so the defense didn't have much of a boost. Both Alliances took early advantage, moving quickly and staying even in the first few hours, tying up at 26% each at one point. The action stayed fast, with Exploration increasing quickly for both teams. We scored out first KO in Battlegroup Two within the first eight hours and added a second one seven hours later, but the OCM had yet to strike down one of our Bosses, and we had a 15% advantage in Exploration. They seemed to be ready to submit, as they didn't advance much more, and we completed the hat trick by KOing their final boss.
4/9/17 vs. The Scientist (105,879 to 156,081) LOSS
We were matched up against the second-strongest Alliance we had ever seen, who topped us by over a million Rating. Our only solace was that we had beaten the strongest. We kept Exploration close, but with 10 hours left, they scored a Boss KO, giving them the lead. More troubling was our Defense Kills. We hadn't slowed them down very much in other Battlegroups. They followed up with a second Boss KO with four hours left in the contest, but we countered that with our first KO soon after, and we were poised for a second. They followed up with a third Boss KO with three hours left to go, putting us in quite a hole. They ended up beating us in every category, but not breaking any records in the process.
4/7/17 vs. Brutality (80,408 to 125,379) LOSS
This Alliance had over a million-point Rating lead on us, and they took advantage of it. They fielded a full squad and put up a great defense. We were unable KO any of their Bosses, but we kept Exploration close until near the end. They turned on the effort and KOed two of our Bosses in the final moments, cementing an already strong lead. We hadn't been doing too well against Mortal Kombat-themed Alliances.
4/5/17 vs. Imperial Membership (151,350 to 65,178) WIN
This was a decent match-up on Alliance Rating, but they had some issues getting their members to join, only fielding 24 Summoners. We took advantage, posting impressive Exploration and KOing all three of their Bosses for a win in all categories but Defender Kills, where they only squeaked by with one more than we had.
4/3/17 vs. **** ((( Ra ))) **** (111,301 to 75,561) WIN
If someone asks if you're a god, you say yes! Also, put your name in a huge number of parentheses and asterisks to confuse people. We were jockeying for our 50th win against the Egyptian God of the Sun and Punctuation. They had a strong point total, but we had some new recruits and a desire to win. We burned through some revives to achieve this feat, giving them the highest Defense Kills total we had given an opponent to date, but that was the only category they bested us in, given us our golden 50th victory!
3/31/17 vs. PanterCrew (122,293 to 128,863) LOSS
This Crew was our superior in points, near to 4 1/2 million. They turned out to be more panthers than painters, whichever they meant to be. They took us down in every category for an easy win on their part. We did our job as best we could, putting up a score that would have won against most Alliances, but it wasn't enough in this case.
3/29/17 vs sfact (119,728 to 100,263) WIN
The matchmaker was doing its job, setting us up with this Alliance very even to our own. They kept a moderate Exploration lead in the beginning, but Ciberhap managed a Boss KO within the first 10 hours to give us the overall lead as the Champions progressed down the battlefields. They soon had Champions poised at all our Bosses as well, so we had to keep moving. With six hours left, our Battlegroup Three's Boss fell, taking away our advantage. As the minutes ticked down, they had an advantage, but BaumanZ took on a Boss with two power-ups still active and took it down with only 50 second left in the contest. Without that KO, we would have lost by a mere 500 points or so, just one node.
3/26/17 vs. Team411 Bordeaux (161,295 to 56,181) WIN
We uncorked this new opponent after a three-War losing skid. We had the advantage, as they were a million points under us in Alliance Rating. We surged forth without too much trouble, keeping a strong Exploration lead most of the War and taking down all three of their Bosses before the final bell in order seal the victory. We managed a few records in the process, with our highest score to date and highest amount of Attack Kills and Defense Rating, as well as our best margin of victory for a match with three Battlegroups. Hopefully we could keep it up.
3/24/17 vs. Los Vengadores Unidos! (131,918 to 161,399) LOSS
We were finding that War after the 12.1 update was a new type of game. Several mechanics that our Defenders had used to KO attackers had been greatly reduced, and it was hard to stop people at this War Rating. Ciberhap jumped ahead to a Boss KO in the first five hours, an incredible feat, but only the first we were to witness. In the second half of the War, Los Vengadores Unidos took out all three of our bosses in a matter of two hours. We had scored a decent amount of Defender Kills, but nowhere near what we had seen in the past. The era of a dominant Boss capable of multiple KOs seemed to be over. We rallied to get a second Boss KO, but their Exploration was too great. We had taken advantage of weaker Defenders as well, scoring our highest Exploration ever in a loss, but not enough. Our score was also the fourth best we had ever put up, but it was still not enough for a Win.
3/22/17 vs. Roesitz Empire (72,025 to 154,151) LOSS
This Alliance topped four million points, and had us outnumbered by a few Summoners, but we had beaten stronger Alliances before. They came on strong, taking out our Defenders with ease. Not much stopped them, and with 12 hours down in the contest, our first Boss fell. Their Leader roesti took down another Boss an hour later, and in two more hours our third fell. As for us, we were working on it, but their Defense was proving formidable. Soon the outcome was clear as our attackers fell, leaving us little opportunity. We swallowed the difficult, but not unexpected loss and moved on. They were Juggernauts, leaving us with the smallest Defense Kills total we'd seen since starting three War Groups and winning by the largest point margin to date.
3/19/17 vs. Fighting Falcons 16 (107,329 to 162,563) LOSS
This was another close match on Rating. We had a slow start, possibly due to the late time of day that we were running War. The Fighting Falcons swooped out to a quick lead, doubling our Exploration in short order. With 14 hours left, they took out our Battle Group Two Boss, giving them a large lead, but there was still plenty of time left. They continued the pressure by rudely taking down another of our Bosses two hours later, but we had started our crawl to the finish lines as well. With eight hours left, BaumanZ jetted to the Battlegroup One Rhino Boss and poached him for a KO. They answered back quickly, taking down our third Boss and having a nearly perfect Exploration. They were very impressive, scoring the highest Exploration and Attack Kills we had seen to date for the victory. We had managed more than the twice the Defender Kills in the contest, but their margin elsewhere was too great for that to matter.
3/17/17 vs. Night Skywalker (139,200 to 98,120) WIN
This Alliance was a good match for us, and our Alliance Ratings were quite close. We started off very evenly, tying up Exploration at 54% at one point, both still advancing to the Bosses. With nine hours left, we had kicked it up a notch, gaining an Exploration lead and KOing their Battlegroup Two boss. Within an hour, their Battlegroup One boss also fell, and we continued to grow our Exploration lead. They seemed unable to answer the challenge for a long period, but they did manage on Boss KO before the end of the contest. We took advantage of their only having six Summoners in Battlegroup Two and logged our largest Exploration score to date, as well as winning in all other categories.
3/15/17 vs. Tork-O (141,324 to 135,579) WIN
It seemed like it had been a long time since we had crossed the field of War. Kabam halted set-up in the first War back to make changes, so we started a few hours later than we were used to. In the down time, we had surpassed a 3 million Alliance Rating, and our first War back was at Normal level. It was our luck to draw a 4.5 million Alliance. In the morning, when the War was usually winding down, we were just in the middle of it this time. They had taken a strong Exploration lead and taken down our Battlegroup One Boss in the night, so we had some ground to cover. The Normal setting was to our disadvantage, as our Defenders were not slowing them down with the reduced nodes at this level. We were able to rally in Battlegroup One and take out their Yellowjacket Boss with less than 10 hours remaining, but there was still a lot of time. The bloodbath continued, as they took down a second Boss, then so did we. With less than three hours left, we took down their final Boss, leaving us just one of our own, but it seemed in jeopardy, and they had an Exploration lead. They were unable to take down our final Boss, and despite their lead in the other categories, we squeaked out a win with our clean sweep! They had scored the highest point total ever posted against us, but we still took the victory!
2/26/17 vs. VengadoresCHL (103,515 to 109,798) LOSS
This was the last War before a sweeping update, so we hoped to finish strong, and we did. This Alliance jumped out to a quick Exploration advantage and kept it through the match, We evened things out with Boss KO in the second half of the contest, putting the points likely in our favor. As time ticked down, Battlegroup One's Iron Patriot Boss was surrounded, but he stayed strong, resisting all attacks until the last few minutes. But when the smoke cleared, he was downed, and with their other advantages they won. It was their supreme persistence in reviving and taking down that Boss. Our Defender Kills were huge at 162, the highest we had ever seen. This was also our best score in a loss, a scored that would have won in many circumstances, but it seemed like we would have to do better still after the update. The competition was not slacking anymore.
2/24/27 vs. Asteroid M (100,279 to 122,867) LOSS
Something sinister came into our orbit with this War against Asteroid M. This match started with a close Alliance Rating between the two of us, so it was anyone's War. Both groups made strong gains, but Ciberhap scored the first Boss KO nine hours into the contest. We enjoyed a lead for a while, but they struck back with only three hours left in the War, getting two Boss KOs in quick succession and edging us out in Exploration. At the final bell, we only managed to win in the Defender Kills and Defender Rating Categories, not enough for a victory. This was the first time we had passed 100,000 points and taken a loss, so our opposition was just getting better with time. We also scored our best Exploration in a loss. They had just surpassed us.
2/22/17 vs. the black anvil (125,433 to 73,921) WIN
So this Alliance was close to a 5 million rating, but really, how bad could it be? A quick look at their roster revealed some strong Summoners, among them, Pizza Dog 2099! It seemed we had a glimpse of our future. Any hope they might be slow or complacent faded when they jumped out to a 23% Exploration in less than two hours. As time passed, we managed to creep closer. Their Battlegroup Three map had some empty nodes, which aided us in the hunt for Exploration. With four hours left, we were only three percent behind them, and Ciberhap scored a Boss KO in Battlegroup Two, likely giving us the lead. Half an hour later, Battlegroup One rallied to the Juggernaut Boss and took him down as well. The black anvil had yet to score a Boss KO, but maybe they were just biding their time. There was no comeback, and we stayed in the lead until the end for a great win against a tough foe. They managed to beat us in Defender Kills, and their Defender Rating was higher, but we took all other categories.
2/19/17 vs. Chandlers Ford Neighbours (91,909 to 125,726) LOSS
Our last War of the week was against this presumably British Alliance. They were a whopper, eclipsing our rating by over a million and averaging 125,000 rating per Summoner. This would be a tall order. We managed to keep even in Exploration for the first half of the War, but they were advancing without getting any KOs on their attackers, which was troubling. Ciberhap bulldogged his way through to the Boss in Battlegroup Two and took it down within the first nine hours. Their Alliance answered with eight hours left in the War and took down our Battlegroup One's Boss. By that time, they had also passed us in Exploration. With 2 1/2 hours to go, our Battlegroup Two lost their Boss as well, giving them a commanding lead to the finish. Their attack had been overwhelming, giving us a record-low 58 Defender Kills on their way to victory. We only managed to best them in the Defenders Placed category.
2/17/17 vs. CCCP (120,561 to 88,181) WIN
The Russians were turning out to be a theme for the week, as we faced another Alliance with Russian pride. They had a slight rating advantage, but nothing to be scared about. We didn't waste time, jumping to a strong Exploration lead and taking out their Group One Boss in about nine hours. War Attack was the same day that we received the announcement about sweeping changes to the game, so I guess this fired us up. We kept our lead throughout, although they did manage a Boss Kill in the last third of the War. Battlegroup Two answered with a second Boss KO keeping us firmly in the lead until the end. CCCP had the highest Defender Rating we'd overcome with a win, so it was good to see we were up to greater challenges.
2/15/17 vs. CоЮЗ Покорителей Планеты Mарвел (123,763 to 104,580) WIN
We fielded a full 30 Summoners for the first time in this War against the "Soyuz Conquerors Planet Marvel" team. They were close to a three-million rating, but we were closing in on that mark as well, so it had the makings of a close contest. Exploration stayed close at the beginning, but we began to pull away. After only eight hours, Ciberhap celebrated his return to the Alliance with a Boss KO to keep us in a strong lead. They answered by taking down our Battlegroup Two Boss with eight hours left in the War and then also passed us in Exploration by a few percent. With 3 1/2 hours left, BaumanZ took down a hard-charging Rhino Boss in Battlegroup One to boost our spirits and our point total, but they had time to answer. They were unable to, so we got the win. Their numbers were very impressive in their loss, and they broke a few records for an opponent we had won against. It was the first time someone had exceeded 100,000 points, yet we still took the victory.
2/12/17 vs. Coterraneos (65,654 to 125,843) LOSS
This Alliance overpowered us from the start by about half a million points and kept us behind almost the whole time. They used revives in places to get through our defense and score two Boss KOs. We only managed to win in Defenders Kills, but they blanked us out in other categories. Their Defender Rating was the highest we had seen thus far, almost half a million, so they kept our attacks at bay as well, scoring an easy win for them.
2/10/17 vs. KровавьІЙ Закат (109,438 to 63,687) WIN
We caught a break with this matchup, as we had a solid point advantage to start with. They got an early Exploration lead, but once we all joined in, we passed them and kept the advantage. They couldn't handle our Defense, giving us a record when winning of 136 Defender Kills. Aanniill sealed the victory with a Boss KO in Battlegroup Three, and we didn't look back.
2/8/17 vs. The Guardians (129,932 to 58,520) WIN
We had fallen back into the Normal difficulty with this War, so we should have a better time taking down nodes. Unfortunately we ran afoul of this Alliance, with about a 200,000 point advantage on us. War was certainly demoting lots of strong teams! So our defense was bound to be taken down as well. Nothing to do but exceed their effort. After three losses, we would not be denied. We came out strong, and War Group One toppled the Boss only nine hours into the War. We took advantage of the weaker nodes and got strong Exploration going. With five hours left, The Guardians had exhausted most of their Champions, and we were far in the lead, and we struck again, taking down the Boss in War Group Two. I'm not sure what they were Guardians of, but we took it, beating them in all categories for the win and getting a record 107 Attacker Kills. (For some reason, I didn't think "Guardians of the Galaxy," but instead "Guardians of Ga'Hoole," so here's a picture of a dog and an owl.)
2/5/17 vs. TИраНИЯ (69,198 to 82,639) LOSS
This Alliance was above us in points by about a quarter million, but we'd try to make it up through tenacity. They came out quickly in Exploration and kept the early lead, so it looked like we needed a Boss KO to take this one. They had passed 50% with eight hours to go in the contest. Neither of us were able to get a Boss KO, but they ended with a large Exploration lead to get their victory.
2/3/17 vs. MC Deadpool Rocks (77,291 to 88,008) PARTY (but also loss)
As we arrayed our forces on the battlefield...Dance Break!
Some stuff happened during the dance-off, and we got Star-Lorded. We won in all the major categories, but we couldn't get the one Boss KO we needed to seal the deal. Also, check out their point total in our last battle of of the Lunar New Year event...all 8s. They had all the luck, it seems. Props.
2/1/17 vs. ROMANI DIN EUROPA (65,417 to 129,307) LOSS
As we rise, we're bound to see 3-million-point groups more often, and this Alliance exceeded that, but we pressed on. They surged in Exploration more quickly than we'd ever seen, reaching 50% in just over four hours! They kept on marching, getting their first Boss KO with nine hours left in the match and their second just 90 minutes later, increasing their Exploration to 75%. Their strong sub-Bosses kept us at bay, leaving us blocked and unable to advance. In the end, we racked up an impressive 115 Defender Kills, but we lost in all the other categories.
1/29/17 vs. Robgroup (96,115 to 94,158) WIN
The matchmaker did a good job with this War, as the two Alliances were very similar. There were less than 1,000 points between the two of us to begin with. For the first half, things stayed very close, with both teams passing 50% Exploration. With less than five hours to go, they scored their first Boss KO, making the close Exploration moot. We needed to answer, but they had some good defensive strategies as we neared the end of the Map, stalling us out. With less than an hour to go, Battlegroup Three rallied and took out their second sub-boss, enough to weaken the Boss enough for Aanniill to finish it off. Exploration was still within 1%, though, so it would come down to the final tally. Their defensive setup gave them the edge in two categories, but we overcame it with victories in three categories, getting the overall win. It took us some revives to do it, as they had 88 Defender Kills, a record from an Alliance that we had won against.
1/27/17 vs. mAssholes of Justice (64,131 to 87,555) LOSS
This Alliance had a 1.3 million point advantage on us, so we started out deep in a hole...of mass, I guess. As time progressed, the Exploration stayed close, and we waited for them to turn up the pressure. With only five hours left in the match, we found ourselves with a bit of a lead. I figured they just hadn't all joined yet, but, no, their Champions were KOed all over the map, as were many of ours. Somehow, our defense had kept them at bay, even though they averaged 126,000 points a Summoner. Hope rose that we might actually win this one. With three hours to go, they surged ahead, but only by 1% in Exploration. They topped that with one Boss Kill and further exploration from their heavy hitters, putting the pressure on us to perform. We threw ourselves against their defense, giving them a record 89 Defensive Kills against us, but it wasn't enough to complete any of the maps. Theirs was was the toughest defense we'd faced, and we couldn't get a foothold. They edged us out in all categories for the win, but it wasn't overwhelming. They scored the lowest amount of points an opponent had scored against us when we'd lost in a three-group match. Our defense is proving tough as well. There's no point calling them names. They took care of that themselves.
1/25/17 vs. RAGNAROK (103,021 to 60,190) WIN
We started this War with a decent point advantage, so hopefully it wasn't the end of the world. They jumped to a quick Exploration advantage, but as the rest of our Alliance joined, we made up the difference and passed them. With 10 hours left, BaumanZ took out the first Battle Group's Storm boss for one Boss KO. Like a knockout blow from Mjolnir to the Midgard Serpent's head, that ended their resistance. We ended the War with our highest Attack Kills yet, 102, and even with only the one boss KO, we exceeded them by over 42,000 points, our largest margin of victory on the Intermediate setting.
1/22/17 vs. Intergalactic Planetary Alliance (101,769 to 72,329) WIN
Dropping down in War Rating led to a rematch with this Alliance from the previous week. We had both grown in strength, and it had by no means been a runaway last time. Exploration stayed even or close as the lead changed a few times. With six hours left, I managed a Boss Kill in Battlegroup One once all the nodes powering it had been taken down. We had won with one Boss Kill the last time, so would it be a repeat? They were unable to get a Boss KO, but they did manage 87 Attacker Kills, a record for teams we defeated, and an impressive Exploration score, but it wasn't enough. That's two for us!
Back on Intermediate, we were a bit more comfortable, but this team still had more points than we did to start. We settled in for a brawl, and they proved formidable. Our Defense didn't hold them very much, but we also managed good in-roads against them, keeping the Exploration close. With only a few hours left, however, they had managed two Boss KOs without giving us many Defender Kills. They had some mighty Attackers, and we had to prove we could take out Bosses as well. We made the attempt, but it was to no avail. At the end, we only had only placed more Defenders. They took every other category for the win. Their Defender Kills of 84 was a record against us, showing we had lost almost every Champion to their defense.
1/18/17 vs Salvation. (82,577 to 126,279) LOSS
We entered into our first War on the Hard setting against this team. They had slightly fewer points than we did, but as the setting claims, Hard is hard, so we could take nothing for granted. Exploration grew at an even rate at the beginning, but we began to take a strong Exploration lead. With less than 11 hours left, they stunned us with a quick Boss KO, meaning we had to answer. Before we could push to a Boss, they KOed a second, then third Boss in rapid succession. This was the first time we had experienced all our Bosses being taken down. Their offense was quite powerful, and as the dust settled, we found we had racked up 158 Defender Kills, a huge record for us. It had taken them skill, but also a serious number of revives for the win. We actually had more points in most categories, but the KOs could not be overcome. Salvation had terminated us, period.
1/15/17 vs. Alcatéia (106,399 to 82,796) WIN
We had an advantage against this opponent in points, and they had made the error of leaving out a Boss in Battlegroup Two. Their defenders were by no means easy. The time of easy matchups had long passed. We took advantage of the missing boss to clear Battlegroup Two and get a nice point lead, and we also had a 20% Exploration lead with only five hours left to go. Although they managed to get a late Boss KO on us near the end of the match, we had them beat in every other category for the Win.
1/13/17 vs. Intergalactic Planetary Alliance (94,303 to 70,637) WIN
This had the makings of a good matchup. They had a 600,000 point advantage starting out, but we had taken out stronger Alliances before. Exploration between the two Alliances stayed close throughout, keeping the outcome in doubt. They really like the Superior Iron Man Champion, as all three of their Battlegroups had him as the Boss. Not a bad choice, but not perfect, as we managed to take out one of those Bosses with only two hours left in the War. They couldn't answer, giving us the victory. At the end, several records were broken in this struggle. We had placed our most defenders ever with 140 and had our strongest Defense rating as well. One latecomer joining the attack gave us a perfect 29 for 29 participation as well. Yes, 29 is perfect, because the 30th slot is being saved for an old friend. The I.P.A. were no slouches. They scored record numbers in both Defender Kills and Attacker Kills for a team that didn't beat us, with 78 and 83 respectively, beating us in both those categories, but those two only.
RIVALS
When we meet an alliance for a rematch, the
pressure is on to see if we’ve improved our game against a known opponent. Here
are the few Alliances that, after a roller coaster of wins and losses, we find
ourselves at about the same War Rating again.
=Black Lotus=: Record 2-0; Both times we met them, we were at fairly even standing. The first match was in November of 2016, and we were both only playing two Battlegroups, and we managed a solid win. Six months later, we had both doubled our Ratings and were running three Battlegroups. This War came down to the wire, with both sides exhausting their rosters, but we came out on top again.

BesiktasJK: Record 2-0; They were a
higher rating than we were in the first match, but we passed them to have the advantage in the second. Both Alliances improved overall score the
second time, but we won both.
GlobalKillers2016: Record 0-2; Another
well-named team that gave us problems. We held them to one Boss KO only in our second match,
versus two KOs in the first. Will we see these killers in 2017?
FLAWLESS VICTORY: Record 0-2; This team
lives up to its name, defeating us both times we met and increasing their margin of victory in the second match.
Intergalactic Planetary Alliance: Record 2-0; We fought this Alliance in back-to-back weeks. Their Alliance had an overall point advantage both times going in, but not overwhelming ones. Also, I hear Beastie Boys music every time I see their name.
